Author: Thomas Dietrich

Thomas Karl Dietrich is the author of The Origin of Culture and Civilization, The Culture of Astronomy, and Temple of Heaven & Earth.

Dietrich was born near the site of the Sacred Jupiter-Oak of the Germans by the walled and turreted city of Frideslar. This giant tree was felled by St. Boniface in 723 AD announcing the advent of Christianity to the pagan Franks and Germans. The city became a royal palace of Charlemagne, and served as a seat of synods and ecclesiastical convocations. In 1066 AD royal ownership was transferred to the Archbishop of Mainz who constructed a Cathedral in the town. According to church records Dietrich’s ancestors came as agents of the first Archbishop. Dietrichs have been writers, teachers, millers, apothecaries, sheriffs, mayors, judges, and custodians of the Cathedral treasures, as well as Governor of Hessen. This heritage is ingrained in the views of the writer which are steeped in antiquity, history, and tradition.

Dietrich was educated in Philosophy, Greek and Classical Studies at the Jesuit University of San Francisco. He lived in Ireland for thirteen years where he met his Irish wife, Nuala. They now live on the San Francisco Peninsula and in Ireland. Together they have traveled the world visiting ancient sites throughout America, Europe, Corsica, Sardinia, Tenerife, Malta, Rhodes, Crete, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, the Red Sea, Mexico, Yucatan, Belize, Guatemala, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru.

The author is a creative designer and stone-sculptor who works in Northern California and Ireland. Dietrich is the author of The Origin of Culture and Civilization (2005), concerning the true sources of ancient Atlantic history that inspired Atlantis and Mediterranean culture and science. His second work, The Culture of Astronomy (2011), is a handbook of ancient astronomy investigating the role of astronomy in the development of science and civilization.
